2016 World Superbike Champion Jonathan Rea

With 2016 F1 and MotoGP seasons now over, time to focus on World Superbike and the great Jonathan Rea who adds 2 championships to his belt. The Kawasaki mounted rider won in 2015 and repeated the formula for 2016 beating his teammate Tom Sykes.

Before joining Kawasaki; Rea rode for Honda between 2011 and 2014 with a best placing of 3rd in the standings in his last year with PATA Honda World Superbike. The Kawasaki formula has worked wonders for Rea, claiming the Superbike title in his first year (2015) and repeating the formula again. Although this 2016 he faced most fierce competition from his teammate and Ducati SBK Chaz Davies.

Davies had a great season but failed to finished 3 races - versus only 2 non finished races by Rea. Tom Sykes had only 1 non finished race, but a slow season start - when Rea won the two races in the Australia opening round, Sykes was out of the podium. Rea had 9 wins versus only 5 of Sykes.

Surprisingly Ducati and Davies had 11 race wins - but in this context: Davies maintained 65.38% podium finishes versus Rea 88.46% = that is Jonathan Rea manages to finished 23 races in the podium! except for 3 (2 non-finished races and 4th placed in Magny Cours first race).
