MotoGP Rankings ahead of Italian Gran Prix

Maverick Vinales heads to Italian Grand Prix at Mugello after winning (from pole position) the French Grand Prix. That was a great result for the future Spanish champion - as he failed to be in the podium at the Americas and Spanish races.

Interestingly, Dani Pedrosa is well positioned as well, he won in Spain and has been more consistent than his more aggressive teammate, Marc Marquez. In fact, Marquez has failed to finish 2 races so far, and hence did not make it to the rankings yet.

Valentino Rossi has not had yet the upper hand neither (in 2017). The multi world champion crashed in France and had not yet win any races, but finished only 2nd in Argentina and Americas. To make his chances less attractive, he is recovering after being hospitalised from motocross training accident in Italy (following the French Grand Prix).

Johann Zarco comes as great surprise within the top 5 riders. The Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider got to his first podium in France, and will be looking to repeat celebration in Mugello.

Ducati has better chances to win at Mugello with Andrea Dovizioso - as the Italian rider will make the most of his appearance since his fellow teammate, Jorge Lorenzo, is still adapting to the new bike and team.

Lorenzo best finishing so far is 3rd place - a deserve podium at the Spanish Grand Prix.
